THE FOUNDER.

The story behind the question that became Hairdemic.

WHY HAIRDEMIC BEGAN

One experience became a bigger question.

Hairdemic began with my own relationship with hair — but it became much bigger when I realized the experiences I was seeing were not mine alone.

Where it started

As a teenager, I watched hair that had always felt healthy begin thinning, breaking and falling out — even while I was regularly going to the salon. Eventually, I cut it all off.

That experience forced me to learn my hair for the first time: its texture, what it responded to and what it actually needed. And it left me with a question I couldn't shake: Why did I have to lose my hair to learn my hair?

Years later, frustrating experiences trying to find consistent professional care raised another question. I considered becoming a hairstylist myself, but seeing even a small part of the professional side changed my perspective. Clients were navigating problems. Professionals were navigating problems too.

THE SHIFT

Maybe this wasn't a client problem or a hairstylist problem. Maybe we needed to look at the system around both.

Why Hairdemic

The more I looked, the more recurring experiences appeared: people trying to understand their hair, searching for care, professionals building careers, scattered education, trial and error, inconsistent experiences and people repeatedly starting over.

They looked like separate problems. Hairdemic began with the possibility that they might be connected.

What started as my story became an effort to bring many perspectives together, understand the patterns shaping hair care and help build what should exist next.

My experience started Hairdemic. It shouldn't define everyone else's.

Hairdemic is being built to hear from the people living different sides of hair care. Because when individual experiences become signals and those signals are connected, we can begin to see the larger pattern.
